VNV Nation

Electronic industrial act VNV Nation, promoting their new album, “Transnational”, is joined by techno industrial musicians Whiteqube for a performance at Turner Hall on 27 April.

VNV Nation, made up of Dublin native Ronan Harris on lyric, electronic, and vocal duties and England’s Mark Jackson on live drums, is arguably one of the leaders in the realm of their genre. Their unique sound, previously dubbed “futurepop”, is known the world over and their sonic blend is once again recorded on their first album since 2011’s “Automatic”. Ronan and Mark are both known for being very “fan friendly” and lively onstage during their high energy performances.

VNV, an acronym standing for “Victory, Not Vengeance”, is known for their comfort level whilst in the public eye. Their professionalism while performing makes for a great experience for their audience, and both Ronan and Mark are known for willingness to chat with fans and pose for photos during and after the show. Ronan’s hypnotic vocals accompany Mark’s beats as they go through their set, which will inevitably include old dance club favorites including “Dark Angel” and “Honour” along with newer anthems “Chrome,” “Perpetual,” and “Everything.” These guys have longevity and there’s a good reason for it.

Beginning in approximately 1990 by Harris (some time webmaster of “Side-Line”, a well-known print-turned online music magazine,, and contributor to Brudershaft, an electronic music artist collective that also included alt-electronica artists Sebastian Komor of Icon of Coil on programming and production duties, Covenant’s Joakim Montelius assembling samples/loops, Stephan Groth of Apoptygma Berzerk on backing vocals, and was led by New York City-based DJ Rexx Arkana, and was conceived as a charity project focused on cancer research and treatment) and A.F.I. (American rock band, Ronan appeared on 2006’s “Decemberunderground” album), VNV combines elements of electro-industrial, synthpop, e.b.m., and trance. Joined by Jackson on live percussion since 1994, the band employs additional musicians for live performances.

Los Angeles-based duo Whiteqube, embarking on their first U.S. tour and releasing their first EP, “Panic, Rage, Riot, Revolt!” in conjunction with the tour, promises to entertain the audience with their music, which they describe as “a combination of elements from electro house, ‘90’s techno, and industrial”. Jason Schary and T. Ryan Arnold, who began this project in 2011, wanted to form a new sound, citing as influences a range of artists from The Bloody Beetroots, The Prodigy, and Knife Party, to Nine Inch Nails and Nitzer Ebb. Promising to present a striking visual experience, also, Whiteqube’s Jason and Ryan are armed with LED video-embossed jackets and a light up LED cube in which they play various electronic instruments. Having ignited crowds from all over with their multi-sensory live set, controlling video along with audio, their highly energetic performances prove that Whiteqube is not an ordinary live electronic act. Of them, LA Weekly wrote “The audience of the largely full room was dancing wildly, screaming whenever there was a moment to breathe in between the songs”.

Doors open at 7 pm at Turner Hall, located at 1034 North 4th Street in Milwaukee.  Tickets are $18 each and available at  All ages are welcome.
