Global Union Returns to Humboldt Park

A free, farewell-to-summer festival of world music and culture. Featuring four bands, food, interactive family activities

Milwaukee, WI (Sept. 9, 2015) – Global Union, a farewell-to-summer festival of world music and culture, will feature four bands, food, and interactive family activities Saturday, Sept. 19, from noon–6 p.m. at Humboldt Park. Alverno College, in partnership with the Milwaukee County Parks, will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of this free community event. Humboldt Park is located at 3000 S. Howell Ave.

Artists from Morocco, Poland, Canada, and Colombia will perform.

At 12:30 p.m., Aziz Sahmaoui and University of Gnawa will weave together ancient spiritual sounds and rhythms with modern-day themes by way of traditional West African instruments combined with electric guitars and keyboards.

At 2 p.m., Karolina Cicha and Bart Palyga will mix ancient overtone singing and traditional Polish folk instruments with modern samplers and loopers.

At 3:30 p.m., Boogat, a tri-lingual Canadian hip-hop artist, writer and producer, will present his multi-cultural rhymes gaining popularity in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.

At 5 p.m., La Chiva Gantiva will blend Afro-Colombian rhythms, rock, afrobeat, and funk for an energetic show.
The event will go on, rain or shine.
