The Fortress of Kowloon Walled City

West coast band Kowloon Walled City's new album "Container Ships" is dark, loud and metallic.

By - Dec 8th, 2012 04:00 am

Many of my west coast friends love this west coast band, so I took notice when Container Ships popped up as a new release. This is the time of year when new releases are pretty much limited to box set rehashes, new bad versions of Christmas songs, and MEGASTARS. Kowloon Walled City is none of that.

Container Ships is without any quick routes to the rock and roll orgasm, but, OH, THE FOREPLAY! Slowly built structures defined by brutally abrasive textures inevitably give way beneath the sheer heaviness and violence these fellas perpetrate. “Container Ships” is dark, loud, and metallic, but metal, it ain’t.
