Youth Council seeks funding proposals for Milwaukee youth programming

By - Jun 9th, 2026 03:25 pm

The City of Milwaukee Youth Council is tasked with allocating a portion of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to different programs that positively impact the city’s youth.

The City of Milwaukee Community Development Grants Administration (CDGA), on behalf of the Milwaukee Youth Council, is now accepting applications for Youth Services projects supported by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. Eligible projects will focus on the following activities: Youth Homelessness Intervention and Youth Suicide Prevention & Intervention.

Applications for agencies interested in CDBG funding to be used for programs and projects benefiting city youths are due no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, June 15. Please go to https://city.milwaukee.gov/CDGA/Funding-Opportunities for more details.

Questions regarding this RFP can be sent to CDGAreports@milwaukee.gov with the subject line “Milwaukee Youth Council Youth Services Questions.”

Youth Council President Svetlana Her said interested agencies and organizations should craft proposals that the full Youth Council can consider to help Milwaukee youth.

“The Milwaukee Youth Council is again pleased to announce that we are taking applications for our youth-services focused grant. Similar to last year, we are seeking organizations who serve youth through mental health and homelessness services,” Ms. Her said. “We recommend all eligible entities to apply for this grant to grow their abilities and serve the Milwaukee Community. The Youth Council itself will be deciding on which two organizations represent the mission to aid Milwaukee youth struggling with homelessness and mental health to award the money. This opportunity allows for the development of youth on each frontier!”

Alderwoman Sharlen P. Moore, who possesses years of service and significant experience in youth programming in Milwaukee, is advising the Youth Council in the CDBG process (and in general). “I am proud to support the Milwaukee Youth Council’s RFP process to identify organizations that are working on critical issues related to youth homelessness intervention and suicide prevention and intervention,” she said. “Our Youth Council is leading the way in addressing issues that matter to the young people in our city.”
