Wisconsin Veteran’s Chamber of Commerce Teams Up with PNC Bank as Official Banking Partner
National financial institution takes leadership role to support Wisconsin’s veteran-owned businesses
MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce today named PNC Bank N.A. as its official banking partner. The new partnership will provide the chamber and its members with banking and support services which include access to PNC’s Virtual Wallet, financial education programs and support for Veteran-employment events across the state. The chamber also designated PNC as a founding sponsor and a bronze star level member which will help expand corporate support for awareness and outreach.
PNC Bank recently pledged support for employee service in the National Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, in Wisconsin. This support encourages employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military and that these employees have to tools and resources needed to effectively serve and do their job.
“PNC is committed to attracting and retaining military, veterans and reservists, a goal that is ultimately good for our business climate statewide,” said Chris Goller, PNC regional president for Wisconsin, “The new chamber is a welcomed liaison for our region and our support will help them expand their reach for business and economic opportunities on behalf of our military veterans and their partners.”
The chamber is Wisconsin’s only business advocacy organization specifically serving veteran-owned and veteran-friendly businesses. Formed in August 2015, the non-profit organization hopes to become the leading resource for over 400,000 military veterans in the state and the business community.
“It is an honor to welcome PNC as our banking partner,” said Saul Newton, executive director of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce. “PNC’s commitment in hiring veterans and supporting a veteran-friendly culture internally sets the example of how business leaders should work with veterans and the veteran-owned businesses in Wisconsin.”
Highlights of the PNC partnership include:
- Virtual Wallet® accounts for WVCC members. The account is equipped with technology to help students monitor spending and view account balances. It also is equipped to help safeguard customers from financial mistakes and unnecessary fees.
- PNC participation in WVCC events.
- PNC participation in employment events for Veterans.
- On-site workshops on personal financial management and financial education. Topics include basic banking, credit management, savings and investing, identity protection and home buying.
Research shows that veterans who leave military service have transitioned successfully into leadership roles in businesses and that consumers are keen to support veteran-allied businesses. In Wisconsin alone, veteran-owned businesses employ over 110,000 workers and generate over $20 billion annually in sales, receipts and value of shipments according to the U.S. Census bureau 2007.
