(MADISON) — Ahead of President Biden’s town hall in Milwaukee, also his first official presidential visit of the administration, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued this statement:

“Wisconsin is thrilled and honored that President Biden chose the Badger State for his first official presidential trip. President Biden knows that leadership starts with listening, and we will all benefit from his willingness to listen to Milwaukeeans and hear about their needs, especially amidst this pandemic.

In his few short weeks in office, President Biden has already changed America for the better. His COVID response is Exhibit A. President Biden has achieved what Trump passed on the opportunity to do: secure contracts for enough vaccine doses to cover every American. Biden’s American Rescue Plan, alongside the leadership of Governor Tony Evers, has helped Wisconsin lead the nation in the average number of COVID-19 vaccinations administered daily, we are finally seeing a way to beat this deadly pandemic.

“We are also excited to hear about the president’s plans to support small businesses. This pandemic has shown the resilience of our small businesses, but Biden’s commitment to protect the foundation of our economy is a great relief. We welcome the president to the Badger State and can’t wait to see how he continues to progress our nation forward.”
