Wisconsin Conservation Voters Wraps Up Statewide Tour Honoring Record Number of Conservation Leaders

MADISON – Fresh off a milestone legislative session under Wisconsin’s new fair maps, Wisconsin Conservation Voters wrapped up a statewide tour celebrating its 2025-26 Conservation Scorecard and its conservation champions this week.

The Scorecard Party tour hit Madison, Appleton, Milwaukee, Ashland, and La Crosse, drawing nearly 150 advocates and representatives from 25 partner groups.

The celebrations took place against a backdrop of historic summer heat waves and toxic wildfire smoke across the region. Rather than slowing turnout, the extreme weather underscored the urgency of WCV’s mission, solidifying grassroots commitment to environmental progress ahead of the 2026 elections.

“For the first time in over a decade, momentum in Madison has shifted,” said Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “Bringing these conservation leaders directly into local communities showed that standing up for clean water, clean energy, and voting rights is exactly what voters expect.”

Highlights from the 2025-26 Conservation Scorecard include:

  • A record 59 lawmakers scored 90 percent or higher for supporting clean water, healthy communities, and democracy. That’s the most in WCV’s 21-year history.
  • Forty-three legislators earned perfect scores.
  • WCV named several lawmakers to its Conservation Honor Roll, including Reps. Jill Billings and Jeff Mursau for protecting drinking water, and Rep. Angela Stroud and Sen. Jodi Habush-Sinykin for leading efforts to hold data centers accountable.
