Inspiration Studios welcomes to its West Allis gallery walls, a collection of 3D works in 2D framing by William Bennett of New Berlin. His exhibition entitled Geometric Interactions—Art in Three Dimensions will adorn the gallery walls at 1500 S. 73rd Street from December 1 to December 30, 2018. An Opening Reception with Bennett is scheduled for Saturday, December 1, 6:00-8:00pm.  The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Bennett’s work explores three-dimensional interactions of geometric and linear elements using a mixed-media pallet of ball bearings, wire, metals, onyx, paper, watercolor and other unique hardware elements. He considers these elements to be his paints. Like a painter, he uses these elements to establish color, texture, composition, flow, interaction and impression.

“I have always had a great appreciation for compositions with strong geometric influences,” explains Bennett. “My work results from this appreciation and the escape of my dominant analytical side into my expressive side. My main goal is to arrange these geometric elements into visually interesting patterns which draw in the viewer, allowing a closer examination and greater appreciation of the interplay of the details. Perceiving patterns in the midst of complexity is where the beauty lies.

Bennett’s work explores the interaction of line and other geometric forms in a 2 inch relief, 3-D setting. The result is framed geometric assemblages that resemble colorful boats and vehicles, delicate musical instruments, or intricate geometric patterns. The final product of each design, when first created or re-created, is unique. No two pieces are exactly the same.  They are presented inside metallic frames, providing them a 2D format for displaying on walls.

As an undergraduate at the University of Miami,” explains Bennett. “I took drawing and composition courses to tone my ability to draw biological samples as seen through a microscope.   Although I have had little organized artistic training, my training in the sciences has served my artistic eye and is where I obtain inspiration. From then to now, my training has been self-taught.”

Bennett has exhibited at galleries throughout Wisconsin since 2003 and most recently at the Lakefront Festival of Arts. All artwork will be available for purchase.

Geometric Interactions—Art in Three Dimensions Opening Reception with William Bennett will be held Saturday, December 1, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Inspiration Studios, 1500 S. 73rd Street in West Allis. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The gallery will also be open during a variety of painting events and holiday receptions.
