Government Finance Officers Association recognizes WEDC for ninth year
MADISON, WI. AUG. 3, 2022 – The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has again earned national recognition for outstanding financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
WEDC received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence from GFOA for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2021. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to the GFOA.
This marks the ninth consecutive year WEDC has received the certificate.
“It’s vital that WEDC show taxpayers how their dollars are benefitting not just businesses but our communities,” said Missy Hughes, WEDC secretary and CEO. “WEDC staff take care to ensure that the investments we make in the economy pay off for everyone and that our financial operations are fully transparent. This certificate is a well-deserved recognition of that hard work.”
GFOA is a professional association serving more than 21,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.
