Waukesha County Lawmakers Secure Funding to Strengthen County Prosecutor’s Office
Madison, WI – This week, the Joint Committee on Finance approved a budget motion authored by Waukesha County legislators to increase funding for the county prosecutor’s office. Waukesha County will receive funding for an additional six full-time assistant district attorneys. These added positions will help alleviate the heavy caseload currently facing the District Attorney’s office. The funding also includes pay progression for current staff to help retain experienced and capable prosecutors.
Following the executive session, the legislators issued the following statement:
“This is a victory for Waukesha County. An increase in ADAs is a vital step in managing the extensive caseload our justice system faces. We are confident that this addition will promote the health and safety of our community.”
