Washington Park Wednesdays Presents Female-focused July 9 Concert Featuring Urban Empress & The Urbanites, plus Nineteen Thirteen
(Milwaukee, Wis.) – The Washington Park Wednesdays summer concert series returns on July 9, 2025, kicking off eight weeks of music, kids’ activities, food trucks, and community engagement at Milwaukee’s historic Washington Park Bandshell (4599 W. Lloyd St., Milwaukee). Activities begin at 5 p.m., with live music starting at 6 p.m. throughout the concert series.
Opening the evening is Zoongwe Dancers, a women-founded Native American dance group offering captivating performances that combine storytelling, traditional songs, and dances highlighting the vital role of women in Native American culture past, present, and future. On stage, Nineteen Thirteen, the innovative cello and drum duo known for its cinematic sound, blends classical elegance with rock energy and electronic textures. Then Urban Empress & The Urbanites – fronted by amazing vocalist Kristin Urbom – blend reggae, soul and hip-hop with a message of empowerment and unity, delivering a vibrant and uplifting performance rooted in rhythm and resistance. Together, they set the stage for a summer of music, movement and community.
Local vendors and food trucks—including several women- and femme-led businesses—will offer a variety of food and beverage options for purchase. Free meals will be available for all hungry children from the Milwaukee Center for Independence.

Washington Park Wednesdays is a free summer concert series at Milwaukee’s Washington Park coordinated through Washington Park Neighbors. Since 2019, the eight-week lineup has brought together musicians, food trucks, community groups and more to entertain and engage the diverse neighborhoods surrounding the park. Hungry kids and families enjoy free meals, art projects and entertainment in this inclusive and inviting environment.
