Washington Park Wednesdays kicks off this week!
Washington Park Wednesdays kicks off the 2023 season with Venus Rising on July 12th, 2023. Milwaukee-based singer/songwriter Amanda Huff curates a night of three dynamic performances by female and female-identifying artists.
Opening act bdwthr explores the euphoria, frustration and self-awareness of a black life, lived in a trans body bdwthr is influenced by hip-hop, experimental noise and alternative music, with a dose of playfulness and chaotic texture to her music.
Our emcee and second performance is Dora Diamond, blending jazz, pop and electronica with her sultry contralto vocals to conjure an atmosphere that is fun, energetic, playful and darkly seductive.
Headlining the evening is You Win !! The band’s name is inspired by the duo Amanda Huff and This Random Machine’s shared passion for games, power structures and weighted exclamations. YouWin !!! is a declaration of sinister prosperity, up to the listener to decide which fate they embody within the terrain Amanda and This Random Machine have built.
Happy hour starts at 5pm with bands at 6pm. Cutting-edge music, dance, and art at the park where neighborhoods converge – Wonderful Washington Park!
