MILWAUKEECatholic Financial Life, with support from Near West Side Partners and Walmart, is hosting a free walk-in COVID-19 vaccine event on Thursday, August 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Catholic Financial Life’s Home Office building (1100 W. Wells St.). Those who are vaccinated at the event will receive a free meal, giveaway bag and raffle ticket toward prizes that include:

“Serving God through serving others and enhancing quality of life are two central components of our mission,” said John Borgen, president of Catholic Financial Life. “By hosting this event, we are improving access to vaccinations and creating a positive impact on the health and safety of the residents and employees of the Near West Side.”

This event is one of many occurring in the Near West Side aimed at vaccinating community members and addressing low vaccination rates in the neighborhood. Support from Near West Side Partners is made possible by a $50,000 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services awarded to increase efforts to promote health and safety and combat the effects of COVID-19 on Milwaukee residents.

“Reaching community members with accurate information about COVID-19 and health resources is crucial,” said Keith Stanley, executive director of Near West Side Partners. “In partnering with known, trusted organizations like Catholic Financial Life, we’re bringing vaccines directly into the Near West Side and making resources as accessible as possible, and that will be the critical piece in our efforts to get residents vaccinated and keep them safe.”

The event will be administering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which is available to individuals ages 12 and older. No pre-registration is required.
