MILWAUKEE – Mount Mary University welcomes educator, author and leadership expert Dr. Melissa Shew to the 2026 Voices of Leadership on Thursday, Nov. 12. The event will take place from 7:30-10 a.m. in the Alumnae Dining Room (Bergstrom Hall) on the Mount Mary campus.

Each fall, Voices of Leadership brings nationally recognized women leaders to campus to share insights about leadership, innovation and creating meaningful social change. This year’s presentation, “Leading with and for Intellectual Joy,” examines leveraging women’s leadership and empowerment to creating thriving work environments.

An award-winning educator and scholar, Shew is the editor of Philosophy for Girls: An Invitation to the Life of Thought and On the Vocation of the Educator in This Moment and The Power of Intellectual Joy for Women at Work, exploring personal and professional transformation through curiosity and lifelong learning. Shew currently serves as Associate Director of Teaching Excellence and Faculty Director of the Executive MBA Program at Marquette University.

Since 2013, Voices of Leadership has fostered conversations with women leaders who have broken ground in entrepreneurship, innovation, social change and leadership. Past presenters of note have included author Nilofer Merchant; activist Jessica Shortall; Julia Landauer, a NASCAR champion; Malala Fund co-founder Shiza Shahid; fashion model, designer, activist, social innovator and entrepreneur Lauren Bush Lauren, and Betsy Myers, White House advisor to former President Barack Obama.

The Voices of Leadership event is presented by Mount Mary’s Center for Women’s Leadership. The annual event brings together community members, educators, business leaders and others to explore issues related to women and leadership.
