Voces de la Frontera Action Endorses Chris Larson
Milwaukee, WI – State Senator Chris Larson earned the endorsement of Voces de la Frontera Action, his second community organization endorsement in this race – the first being Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC).
Milwaukee has been called a “city of neighborhoods” but those neighborhoods are not equal, with Milwaukee also being known as one of America’s most segregated cities. That’s why grassroots organizations like Voces de la Frontera – called by “The Nation” as “the most valuable grassroots organization in the US” – are so crucial to building a Milwaukee County where everyone thrives. Voces de la Frontera plays a pivotal role in voter outreach. In 2008, Voces launched a massive registration drive to increase Latinx turnout in Milwaukee and Racine, registering 2,000 new voters – and 70% of eligible voters voted.
Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera Action, said “The fight for immigration reform is a fight about workers’ rights, and Senator Larson is well-known for his advocacy on behalf of workers. Senator Larson has fought alongside us in advocating for driver’s licenses for undocumented workers, against ICE raids, and for DACA DREAMers. We appreciate his allyship in the State Senate and look forward to continuing to fight for human rights alongside him as Milwaukee County Executive.”
Chris Larson is the State Senator for Wisconsin’s 7th District and former Milwaukee County Supervisor. Chris grew up in Greenfield and is a life-long resident of Milwaukee County and currently lives in Bay View with his wife, Jessica, and son Atticus and daughter Stella.
