“It is time for change! Change requires leadership. Leadership is what is required in the halls of the City of Milwaukee’s Common Council chambers. Leadership that drives change and breaks free the shackles that prevent change in the community and neighborhoods of Aldermanic District #1 to take hold.

“Change that creates positive environments for our families and promote businesses in our neighborhoods instead of only those that locate downtown.

“Change that forges partnerships between District #1 residents, businesses and public agencies so that we can achieve our mutual objective, which is to enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods.” Vincent Toney

My name is Vince G. Toney and I will once again be running for Alderman in District #1. For those who don’t know me, I was born and raised in the 53206-zip code by a single parent, Mary B. Toney with three sisters, Ronda, Rochelle and Anita, we all proudly attended Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). If not for my mother, Aunts and Uncle, cousins, along with the adults on my block, and the community I would not be the person I am today. It truly takes a village to raise a child!

I attended North Division High School and joined the United States Navy, where I served in Diego Garcia as an Airfield Firefighter.  I ended my military service in Guam where I worked as a Civil Servant for the United States Air Force and Navy in the same capacity, and as a structural firefighter.

After returning home to Milwaukee I worked in different capacities at a manufacturing facility, I also worked in the service sector in procurement, I worked as a mentor in social services, and I currently work in Child Protective Services. While working in those capacities I acquired a variety of skill sets and knowledge necessary to perform those jobs.

I acquired a GED from MATC, I earned a Bachelor of Art from Lakeland College, and a Master’s of Social Work degree from UW-Milwaukee.

I have been happily married to Taffie Foster-Toney for over 19 years.

My Mission for the District:
To encourage a community-based alliance between residents, businesses and public agencies whose objective is to preserve and enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods and to represent the constituents of District #1 to ensure that our neighborhoods and communities receive our fair share of city services and resources.

My Vision for the District:
That our children and elderly can safely walk the streets not fearing crime.
