MILWAUKEE (June 21, 2018)VIEW MKE, a new neighborhood restaurant perched at the top of Historic Brewer’s Hill will open on Monday, June 25, just in time to savor farm-fresh shared plates while enjoying the best view of downtown.

Inspired by the expansive view of the city, the restaurant’s name, VIEW MKE, is a nod to the chef’s point of view in the creation of menu items inspired by flavors from local, regional and international cuisines, as well as the restaurant’s take on Milwaukee’s casual lifestyle and dining experience.

Executive Chef Zach Panoske, former sous chef at Harbor House and Paris Dreibelbis, former sous chef at Ardent, along with Andrew Ruggeri, General Manager, bring together a broad range of culinary experience to VIEW MKE and a modern twist to techniques, flavors and spices from Italy, Spain, the Basque Region, the Philippines and other corners of the world.

“View MKE is an open invitation to gather, relax and savor all that Milwaukee has to offer. We’ve crafted the perfect blend of the foods we love, iconic images and laid-back lifestyle, creating an atmosphere that welcomes residents and visitors alike,” said Carl Tomich, co-owner.

Dinner menu items will be served as shared plates around the table and ingredients are mostly supplied by local farmers and purveyors featuring an interesting mix of fresh ingredients. The wood fire oven has been refurbished and will be used for a variety of menu items, including Milwaukee-style pizzas with a classic thin crust, best accompanied by a beer from one of the local Wisconsin craft breweries. Saturday and Sunday brunch will feature classic fare and international dishes offered with an impressive champagne selection. The menu will change regularly, with favorites always offered.

The Milwaukee vibe is evident throughout the restaurant and includes iconic images of Milwaukee created by Wisconsin artists and large format images from local photographers. The upstairs dining area will be open to the patio with 18-foot folding glass doors providing an unobstructed view of the city’s skyline. Hundreds of Edison bulbs create a soft glow through the restaurant and the industrial feel extends to the lower level where the bar has been rebuilt and custom booths installed along with a cubist mural of the city by a local artist.

“We curated a variety of local Milwaukee artists to design custom images for the space that are representative of the things Milwaukeeans hold near and dear. It was important for the design to acknowledge our heritage and make the most of the panoramic views, all while keeping with the feel of the neighborhood,” said Kim Tomich, co-owner and designer.

Hours for the restaurant are as follows:

Monday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Friday and Saturday 5:00 pm. to 11:00 p.m.

Sunday 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
