UPDATE: 2 Semi Trucks and Vehicle Crash Cause Highway Shutdown and Spill
The collusion of the two semi-trucks caused a cargo shift, which resulted in a leakage spill of concrete sealant, a bonding and a stripping agent from the striking truck.
Milwaukee, WI (June, 29th, 2019) On Friday, June 28th, at approximately 11:02 a.m., MCSO responded to a crash that involved 2 semi trucks and a vehicle on northbound I-94 at Oakwood Rd. The vehicle lost control and struck the temporary median wall causing I-94 to be shutdown for hours.
The collusion of the two semi-trucks caused a cargo shift, which resulted in a leakage spill of concrete sealant, a bonding and a stripping agent from the striking truck. The other semi-truck contained paper products.
Due to the hazardous materials that leaked onto the freeway, a hazmat and environmental response was requested.
Racine and Raymond Fire Department responded to the scene and initiated an unified command in order to coordinate the cleanup efforts.
The following agencies also assisted MCSO with the incident: Wisconsin State Patrol, Racine County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Pleasant Police Department, Kenosha Sheriff’s Office, Oak Creek Police Department, Oak Creek Fire Department, Caledonia Police Department, Department of Natural Resources, DOT construction partners and Milwaukee County Highway Department.
