Upcoming extended overnight closures along I-43 in Milwaukee County

As part of the ongoing I-43 project, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is notifying motorists of upcoming extended overnight closures between Brown Street and Capitol Drive in the city of Milwaukee. Extending these routine overnight closures into the morning hours over the next few weekends will allow crews to conduct expedited milling and paving work.

This work will be completed over the course of two weekends:

I-43 southbound extended overnight closures between Capitol Drive and Fond Du Lac Ave. (WIS 145)

  • Friday, October 18: 10:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, October 19: 10:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Detour:

  • Capitol Drive (WIS 190), 27th Street, and Fond Du Lac Ave. (WIS 145)
  • Northbound I-43 will remain open to traffic.

I-43 northbound extended overnight closure at North Avenue:

  • Friday, October 25: 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
    • Following closure, northbound North Avenue entrance/exit ramps to close from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, October 26: 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
    • Following closure, northbound North Avenue entrance/exit ramps to close from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Detour:

  • North Ave. off-ramp and North Ave. on-ramp during I-43 northbound closure
  • Southbound I-43 will remain open to traffic.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
