Town Hall Meeting To Discuss Sales Tax Proposal Set For Monday

By - Jul 7th, 2023 11:48 am

Alderman Lamont Westmoreland will be hosting a town hall meeting on Monday, July 10 to discuss the proposed 2% sales tax increase and the accompanying conditions. The town hall will be held at 8901 W. Capitol Dr., in the Wellpoint Care Network Training Center, from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Attendees should enter the main lobby entrance at the north parking lot, and because of ongoing building renovations, an accessible entrance is available at the south employee entrance.

City Budget Director Nik Kovac and Director of Intergovernmental Relations Jim Bohl will be present to answer questions and provide information.

“We know that this proposal comes with some big changes and some big question marks,” said Alderman Westmoreland. “That’s why I want to extend this invitation to any interested residents. I want us to come together as a community so we can address any concerns and questions that constituents might have, and so we can be properly informed and prepared for what comes next.”

Additional information about the proposed sales tax increase can be found here: https://city.milwaukee.gov/ImageLibrary/Groups/ccCouncil/Images3/2percenttax.jpg.
