Ex Fabula, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community bonds through the art of storytelling, will start their 6th season of StorySlams with the Season 6 Kickoff Fundraiser on Thursday September 18th from 6 to 9 pm. The event will be held on the patio of the Hot Water Wherehouse, 818 S Water St, where National almost runs into Lake Michigan.

Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres (from Transfer Pizzería Cafe, Lulu Cafe & Bar, La Perla and Clock Shadow Creamery) and a DJ while perusing the silent auction. Throughout the evening, four storytellers will take the stage to share “Ex Fabula Classics”. These stories, though told years ago, are still talked about to this day and were selected by longtime Ex Fabula volunteers as the “best of the best”. The audience will also have an opportunity to ask the tellers questions about their stories and about storytelling in general.

  • Leah Leone will tell her “What Red Flag” story from Season 1
  • Jody Hirch will recount his “It Gets Better” tale from Season 2
  • Lamont Smith will tell his “Barbershop” story from the Terminal Milwaukee project
  • Tracy Lehrman will share her “Faking It” story from Season 3

Additional details about the storytellers are available below.

Advance tickets are $20, and all proceeds will support Ex Fabula’s work to strengthen community bonds through the art of storytelling.
