The Salvation Army To Host Second Coat Distribution
The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County will be distributing winter coats for children and adults in need this week.
MILWAUKEE COUNTY – The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County will be distributing winter coats for children and adults in need this week.
The coats, collected though the FOX6 Coats for Kids program, Operation Warm, and local collection drives, will be distributed from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, January 24 at The Salvation Army Distribution Center, 5880 N 60th St., in Milwaukee.
“We were able to give out 5,195 coats at the November 22 and 23 distribution,” said Major Steve Woodard, Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County. “We have a variety of sizes available. If you or your child is in need of a coat, please come to the distribution center.”
The coats will be first come, first serve. No registration is necessary.
The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. The Salvation Army tracks the level of need across the country with the Human Needs Index (Human NeedsIndex.org). Locally, 87 cents of every dollar raised is used to support programs and services in Milwaukee County.
