The Hovde Plan: Ban Abortion
MADISON, Wis. — In the final weeks of the election, WisDems will be highlighting Eric Hovde’s extreme agenda for Wisconsin, and how his policies would be disastrous for Wisconsinites if he wins. The first edition will look at Hovde’s plan to ban abortion.
Hovde pushed to overturn Roe v. Wade, celebrated the decision when it came down, and is now trying to pass an abortion ban.Hovde Plan for Banning Abortion:
- Hovde supported the overturning of Roe v. Wade and doubled down on his support for the Dobbs decision, which led to criminal abortion bans across the country—including Wisconsin’s—which had no exceptions for victims of rape or incest.
- Hovde says he is “totally opposed to abortion” and that he “oppose[s] legalized abortion” “from conception.”
- Hovde was endorsed by a far-right anti-abortion group whose mission is to make abortion “legally unacceptable.” The group endorsed Hovde because he showed “strong support for federal right-to-life issues.”
