The Evers Education Budget: A Gift for Liberal Special Interests
Raises taxes on families leaving public schools, attacks choice program, stops charter schools
[Madison, WI] — Governor Evers’ education budget is a gift to liberal special interests. While Wisconsin Republicans have fought to give families more education choices, Governor Evers is making life more difficult on families leaving failing public schools. Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald released the following statement:
“Parents should be able to pick whatever education opportunities best fit their family needs. Time and again we’ve seen how Governor Evers’ budget attacks school choice, private schools, and those who rely on anything outside of the public school system. The budget he introduced even raises the tax burden on families who send their students to private schools.
“We need to support an education system that works for everyone. The governor’s budget puts liberal special interests ahead of Wisconsin families. Republicans will continue to support more education choices for families during the budget process.”
Evers’ budget contains provisions that will freeze enrollment in choice schools and suspend charter school expansion in Wisconsin. It also raises the tax burden on families who choose private schools for their children.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) represents the 13th Senate District, which covers portions of Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Washington, Dane, and Columbia counties.

If choice is a public policy, shouldn’t I be able to choose the Fire and Police Services that best fit my needs?
