Teen charged in deaths of multiple youth this summer

Statement from Alderwoman Larresa Taylor August 27, 2024

By - Aug 27th, 2024 11:21 am

Earlier this summer two young people lost their lives to gun violence. A 9-year-old and a 17-year-old were fatally shot just days apart in what we learned recently were related events. The shooter in both instances has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide and first-degree intentional homicide accordingly.

These incidents were tragedies, and it is important that the community continue to embrace the families who lost young ones. I want the families to know that the community stands with them, and mourns with them. This is devastating to us all to have lost two young lives to senseless gun violence.

Gun violence has to stop. These deaths were wholly preventable. We must do better, and I believe we can do better. I am working tirelessly to find ways of engaging our youth to change the direction of their lives and avoid participating in criminal activity, and instead engage with our community in a positive manner.

This might take time, but it can be done, and it will take all of our effort to get there.

YES Gun violence has to stop. BUT it will not stop until the underlying ABUSE that EVERY KILLER has experienced if first acknowledged

Why the powers to be REFUSE to write about the need for all who are ABUSED to receive the THERAPY that they MUST have if they are not to be a KILLER!

    Will anyone respond?
