Suspects Criminally Charged in Connection to a Shots Fired at Officers Incident

MILWAUKEE, WI – Friday, January 13, 2023, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against Afrisawn T. Dedrick and Tysheonna M. Jones in connection to shots fired at officers.

The incident occurred on Friday, January 6, 2023, at approximately 2:42 a.m., on the 3100 block of N. Sherman Boulevard. MPD officers observed a vehicle in the park that drove off at a high rate of speed as the squad approached. The vehicle continued to drive recklessly and officers attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots at the pursuing officers at approximately N. 100th Street and W. Capitol Drive. The pursuit ended when it was terminated by a supervisor. The vehicle was determined to be stolen from West Bend and was later recovered unoccupied in our city.

Our investigation led us to a residence in Wisconsin Rapids. With the assistance of several law enforcement agencies in Wood County a search warrant was executed at the residence. Dedrick and Jones were located and arrested. A firearm was also recovered.

Dedrick was charged with one count of Attempt First Degree Intentional Homicide- Party to a Crime, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, one count of Endangering Safety by Use of Dangerous Weapon – Party to a Crime, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, one count of Drive or Operate a Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, one count of Flee or Elude an Officer and three counts of Felony Bail Jumping. If convicted, he could face up to 112 years, 6 months in prison and could be fined up to $100,000.

Jones was charged with one count of Attempt First Degree Intentional Homicide-Party to a Crime, Use of a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Endangering Safety by Use of Dangerous Weapon – Party to a Crime. If convicted, he could face up to 77 years, 6 months in prison and could be fined up to $25,000.

The Milwaukee Police Department does not tolerate disregard for human life. If you attempt to harm or cause harm to anyone, including our members, we will work tirelessly bring you to justice.

The Milwaukee Police Department would like to thank the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Marshfield Police Department, Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Grand Rapids Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of these dangerous individuals. We also appreciate the hard work and effort of all our members that helped bring charges against these individuals.
