Supervisor Romo West Extends Gratitude for Heroin and Opiate Town Hall

Meeting to be Held at 5:30 p.m. Today at Italian Conference Center

By - Nov 16th, 2015 01:24 pm

Milwaukee County Supervisor Peggy Romo West today applauded Common Council President Michael Murphy and Ald. Jose Perez for holding a county-wide heroin/opiates town hall meeting today at the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago St., from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight.

The meeting is designed to allow participants to learn to recognize heroin and opiate use and what kind of help and resources are available.

The meeting is co-sponsored by Milwaukee County, the Medical Society of Milwaukee County, the Milwaukee County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, the City of Milwaukee Health Department and the city’s Department of Administration.

“Heroin and opiate abuse is devastating our community and is on the rise in Milwaukee County, sadly taking lives in record breaking numbers,” Romo West said. “My family having been personally affected by this epidemic makes me very grateful to President Murphy and Alderman Perez for sponsoring this town hall and bringing awareness and education to this deadly epidemic, hopefully saving other families and communities from having to feel the loss of their loved ones.”
