By - Sep 13th, 2021 03:44 pm

MILWAUKEE – County Supervisor Ryan Clancy and Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson will host a virtual discussion on Mariame Kaba’s New York Times bestselling book We Do This ‘Til We Free Us: Abolitionist Organizing and Transforming Justice tomorrow at 6 p.m. The discussion is the first in a series of “Milwaukee County Book Club” events organized by Supervisor Clancy.

“I’m very excited to hear from both residents and colleagues about how they understand and imagine public safety and justice,” said Supervisor Clancy. “This is an opportunity to explore each other’s perspectives without an immediate vote on a budget or piece of legislation looming before us. I invite everyone to join and lend your voice and ears.”

The discussion will be broken up into three sessions on September 14, September 28, and October 12, each at 6 p.m. The September 14 discussion will cover parts one and two of the book. The September 28 discussion will cover parts three and four. On October 12, participants will cover parts five, six, and seven.

All discussions will be conducted virtually via Zoom and moderated by African American Roundtable Coalition and Membership Manager Devin Anderson.

Interested members of the public can register for the events at tinyurl.com/mariamekaba.
