Statement of Common Council President Willie L. Hines, Jr. December 18, 2012
I will continue to monitor this situation, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
I am aware of the reports on the recent arrest of a Milwaukee Police officer and the investigation into allegations of on-duty criminal activity by that officer. Given the many issues we face in the city and the Milwaukee Police Department, I am disappointed that a law enforcement officer would find himself in the middle of something like this.
I commend the Milwaukee Police Department Internal Affairs Division on conducting the investigation and the citizen for filing the initial complaint. It is heartening to hear that the complaint system has proven itself to be effective in this case.
I will continue to monitor this situation, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
