Statement from Rep. Brostoff on Successful Adoption of Assembly Joint Resolution Recognizing April 2019 as Deaf History Month in Wisconsin
Encouraged by Bipartisan Support
MADISON — Rep. Jonathan Brostoff (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement on the unanimous adoption yesterday of Assembly Joint Resolution 27, recognizing April 2019 as Deaf History Month in Wisconsin:
“April marks an important month for recognizing the milestones of the deaf community both in Wisconsin and nationally, and I am very proud to have played a part in bringing a Resolution to recognize that fact to the floor yesterday. The deaf community plays an integral role in our state and nation and deserves to be celebrated not just this year, but for years to come,” Brostoff said.
Assembly Joint Resolution 27 honors multiple notable deaf Wisconsinites and major milestones for the deaf community in Wisconsin, as well as important milestones for the American deaf community more broadly.
Brostoff continued, “I also appreciate that this Resolution passed with bipartisan support, and I sincerely hope that my Republican colleagues will continue to lend their attention and support to deaf issues as they come before the Legislature over the course of this Session and beyond.”
