Statement by Rep. Nick Milroy on federal warning regarding shady, misdirected grant money
Letters further show Gov. Walker and Republicans were hiding sweetheart deal for cronies from the public
MADISON – Today yet more information was discovered unveiling further corruption by the Walker Administration regarding the Sporting Heritage Grant recently awarded to United Sportsmen, Inc. Rep. Nick Milroy (D-South Range), ranking Democratic member of the Assembly Natural Resources and Sporting Heritage Committee, issued the following statement:
“An article just released by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reveals that the Walker Administration received, not one, but two letters from the Fish and Wildlife Service of the US Department of Interior stating that motion 527 creating the sweetheart deal awarding a $500,000 grant to United Sportsmen, Inc., violated both state and federal regulations. In the letters it was made clear that more than $28 million in federal funding would be lost if the budget included this provision.
“This is just more evidence of the deceitfulness surrounding this grant and the Walker Administration’s willingness to further jeopardize federal funding and use taxpayer dollars to award his political allies.”
