Milwaukee— 2/28/21 After nearly 12 months of on-and-off closures and uncertainty due to the COVID pandemic, Caravan Hospitality Group announced its bubbly-infused sports bar at 750 N Jefferson St is once again opening daily– just in time for college basketball tournaments, March Madness, and the launch of a new Major League Baseball season.

“It’s been a rough year to say the least,” said Mike Eitel, Caravan’s owner. “The downtown area has been an absolute ghost town since the lockdown last March but appears to be slowly coming back as the vaccines get out, offices start to bring back employees, and hotels start to fill.” Eitel continued, “We are hoping to be a part of an historic comeback downtown this spring!”

Hoping for a big rebound

On March 16th last year, SportClub was forced to close its doors along with the rest of the state’s bars and restaurants right at the beginning of its busiest season. A popular spot for fans of all sports, March is by far its biggest month with the excitement of college basketball tournaments.

“We are so excited to be back just as all the tournaments start to kick off for a huge spring,” said Michele Thompson, GM of SportClub. “Many of us are still suffering from the trauma of being shut down and laid off last year but are hopeful people find us again.”

A special weekend for returning employees and guests

SportClub will open Friday at 4pm for a “Welcome Back Happy Hour” with 50% off appetizers and select beverages, raffle prizes and giveaways. The bar is also now accepting reservations for booking its  “Social Bubble” areas for groups of up to 30 for all games.

SportClub follows the State of Wisconsin Mask Mandate as well as its Milwaukee Health Dept. approved COVID safety plan with distancing, capacity restrictions, and sanitation practices.

“For all of us who are finally coming back to work, it’s really going to be great seeing everybody again and start seeing little signs of something ‘normal’ returning,” said Thompson.
