So Little Time…So Much Music

By - Oct 13th, 2025 01:49 pm

We’re all just so darn busy these days! Rushing here…rushing there…never enough time to do all the things we want to do.

Is that what’s troubling you? Of course it is. But at the historic Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts (JGCA) we have a partial solution.

Come to the JGCA at 7 pm on Friday, October 17 and you’ll get your full quota of live music for the entire week when the JGCA presents not one…not three…but FIVE live musical acts, all fit into about a 3-hour performance window.

Featured Acts

  • Taste Rubber is a new Chicago quartet dealing in freely improvised avant-garde music. They use two guitars, bass, and a Kurzweil synthesizer. The group features Mark Shippy (of U.S.Maple) and Jeff Goulet (of Skin Graft Records’ Lovely Little Girls) on guitars, Sam Robinson on synth, and Abe Collins (of AD alum Nonzoo and Spanyurd) on bass. “Test” is the group’s first album, a brooding soundscape of experimental rock, electronics, and sound exploration, resulting in a deeply consuming and unnerving listen.
  • Interim Assassin is made up of Jeb Bishop, Daniel Burke, & Erik Sowa. Falling loosely into the cracks between post-rock jazz improvisation and ambient electronic minimalism, the trio communicates while in pursuit of a good moment…an open exploration of sound playing with the possibilities of sustain, silence, space, texture, environment, and pattern are embraced while seeking the beauty of harmony and dissonance.
  • Seldomly Trio features members of CHEER-ACCIDENT: Billie Howard on violin & piano, Julie Pomerleau on viola & recorder, Thymme Jones playing piano and trumpet, and Katie Klocke on violin.
  • Kirin McElwain is a cellist and composer working in the realms of experimental, contemporary classical, and improvised music. Weaving together classical and Baroque influences with an affinity for sub-bass and harsh electronic textures, her music explores themes of desire, shame, perfection, and belonging.
  • Floodwall will round out the evening’s program and provide local support.

So much music…compressed into so little time…and all for just ten bucks!
