Shorewood shooting ends with deadly incident near 6th and Reservoir
Statement of Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs July 3, 2025
Early this morning, one person was killed and two others were shot in Shorewood, including a Shorewood police officer. While searching for the suspect, a chase began that ended at Finlayson Street and West Reservoir Avenue. At this scene an additional person was pronounced deceased.
I am sending my well wishes to the family and friends of those who lost a loved one today, and am wishing those injured a speedy recovery.
Gun violence continues to be far too prevalent in our communities. The impacts of incidents such as this one can be far reaching, and leave a scar well beyond when the incident occurred. At no point can we start to normalize this incident, with residents waking up to sirens and gunshots.
Assistance is available for those impacted, as those seeking resources can call the city’s Mobile Trauma Response Team (MPD), at 414-257-7621 or can contact Milwaukee County’s 24-hour Mental Health Crisis Line at 414-257-7222. You can also find additional resources on the Office of Community Wellness and Safety’s website.
