Sherman Park BUILD Health Challenge

By - Feb 25th, 2021 08:45 am

Milwaukee has recently been added to the list of cities that the BUILD Health Challenge, a unique national program focusing on bold, integrated, local, and data driven projects that can improve community health, is looking to work with. BUILD has specifically targeted Sherman Park, a neighborhood that has long been associated with the systemic inequities its residents experience along with many other challenges the community already faces.

BUILD Sherman Park will advance a community-driven process which will create templates for further action, capacity-building and community healing. This project focuses on fostering safe, strong neighborhoods, as well as strengthening capacity, coordination, and collaboration for health and safety. Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II is strongly advocating for Milwaukee community members, but especially Sherman Park neighborhood residents, to join the program and the Sherman Park Community Council.

“It is more important now than ever for our community to embrace new health and safety parameters, and working with this program is the perfect way to do just that,” Alderman Stamper said. “The BUILD Sherman Park Health Challenge will also increase community resilience and it is critical that we as a community engage in this process to create successful programs for our children and future generations.”

Those interested in joining the Sherman Park Community Council can follow this link to apply Sherman Park Community Council Application (google.com). Those with any additional questions can also contact Marques Hogans at marques.hogans@ascension.org or 414-465-3415, for more information.
