Seeking Nominations 2017 Awards for Leadership in Sustainability, Social Justice or Health and Wellness
The deadline for receipt of electronic nominations for any of the three award categories is August 21, 2017.
July 12, 2017 – Fall 2017 marks the launch of a new corporate/organization awards recognition program that honors outstanding businesses and/or organizations within the Greater Milwaukee area that via a project or initiative demonstrated positive community impact, partner engagement and documented actions either quantitative or qualitative to overcome complex community problems, offer alternative solutions and overcome challenges in the area of sustainability, restorative justice or peace-building, or health and wellness. Criteria and nomination forms can be accessed via the Escuela Verde at www.escuelaverde.org

Escuela Verde, is an ‘EdVisons’ public charter school authorized by the City of Milwaukee Common Council serving grades 7 through 12 in a unique and powerful student-centered, project-based academic model that focuses on education for sustainability, social justice and wellness. Students participate in small learning communities encompassing self-directed, project-based learning using authentic assessments and operating under a democratic governance model. Students and educators are encouraged to see themselves as members of a community by creating a strong sense of place and developing skills to flourish ‘without harm.’ Escuela Verde students have collaborated with over 100 individuals, businesses and organizations that incorporate and promote sustainability, restorative justice and peace-building along with health and wellness practices.
