Sarah Godlewski Releases Statement Following Verdict in the Trial of Derek Chauvin
Today, following the jury verdict to convict Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski released the following statement:
“I’m grateful for any measure of justice this decision brings for George Floyd’s family. Even with this outcome, we will not pause our push for sweeping reforms and accountability, because change can’t wait another day.
“To be clear, this conviction only came after a nearly year-long fight by George’s loved ones to hold his perpetrator accountable – because far too often, the system fails to police itself.”
