Sarah Godlewski Launches Coalition of Rural Wisconsinites Supporting her Campaign for U.S. Senate

Godlewski Shows Strength in Communities Other Democrats Often Ignore

MADISON – Today, Sarah Godlewski launched a coalition of rural leaders, including elected officials, community leaders, grassroots advocates, and business owners from across Wisconsin in her campaign for U.S. Senate. Members of the coalition – which also includes two national organizations that only support candidates committed to taking on tough fights to lift up rural America – backed Sarah because of her understanding and support for rural communities that Washington often ignores.

“I’m grateful to have the support of so many Wisconsinites from rural communities across the state–from small business owners to community leaders to grassroots supporters. To beat Ron Johnson, Democrats must show up, listen, earn trust, and follow through on our word to rural Wisconsinites, and that’s exactly what I’ve done since I first ran for public office,” said Sarah Godlewski. “For too long, Washington politicians have ignored the needs of our rural communities. When I get to the U.S. Senate, I will work to ensure every Wisconsinite has access to jobs, education, health care, and the overall quality of life they want and deserve, no matter where they live.

The groundswell of support shows Sarah’s unmatched strength in rural and small-town communities, where she outperformed the Governor and Lieutenant Governor in 2018. It also demonstrates her steadfast commitment to delivering for the rural communities that Democrats too often overlook, a major problem for the party during the Trump Presidency that got even worse during last year’s elections in Virginia.

Patty Schachtner, former State Senator for District 10: “I’m excited to support Sarah Godlewski for U.S. Senate. Sarah understands what Wisconsinites need throughout their lives to be successful, from birth to death, and all the life that happens in between, and will fight for us in the U.S. Senate. She has been a great partner and friend in the years I’ve known her and she has the grit to make kitchen table issues a priority in Congress again.”

Tom Stepanek, former Chair of Waushara County Democrats: “Sarah Godlewski understands rural Wisconsin and she knows what it takes to win. Look no further than her 2018 State Treasurer campaign when she won where other Democrats haven’t–especially in rural Wisconsin. We need a nominee who can beat Ron Johnson and that person is Sarah.”

Anna Landmark, Owner of Landmark Creamery: “Sarah understands the challenges that small businesses face–and the even more unique challenges business owners face in rural areas. Unlike other candidates, she has a clear record of delivering results for hardworking Wisconsinites. I’m proud to be joining Team Sarah and to send her to Washington to get the job done for Wisconsin!”

Mike Wiza, Mayor of Stevens Point: “The purpose of government is about trying to make the best decision for the most good and that’s why I’m supporting Sarah Godlewski for U.S. Senate. After 12 years of Ron Johnson, we need someone who will do the most good for our state and I know Sarah will. When she sees a problem, she rolls up her sleeves and gets the job done–and we need more of that in the U.S. Senate.”
