Safe & Sound to Host Multiple Drug Take Backs on National Drug Take Back Day- Saturday, April 30th

Milwaukee, WI – To support National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30th, Safe & Sound will be hosting, along with our partners, several drug take back events in Milwaukee.

Safe & Sound’s mission is to build safe and empowered neighborhoods. Part of that is reducing and preventing drug use in our community. At these events, people will be able to dispose of prescription and non-prescription medications safely, no questions asked.

Safe & Sound is proud to be partnering with Take Back My Meds, Community Advocates, the Milwaukee Police Department and Districts 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7, the Milwaukee Sheriff’s Department, Milwaukee Fire Department, Near West Side Partners, We Care Crew, Wisconsin DHS’ Dose of Reality Initiative and the Wisconsin DJO, Office of the Attorney General to make these events successes and provide an important opportunity to for the community to dispose of unwanted medications.

The events will take place at locations below:

District 2-Christ St. Peter’s Church-2229 W. Greenfield Ave from 10am-2pm
District 3-Johnson’s Park- 1919 W. Fond du Lac Ave.) from 11am-2pm. There will be a clean-up at the park beforehand.
District 3-1201 N. 35th St. (Vacant lot on 35th & Juneau) Near Harley Davidson from 10am-2pm
District 4-Walgreens at 9040 W. Good Hope Rd. from 11am-2pm
District 5Clinton Rose Park-3045 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Drive from 10am-12pm
District 7-Safe & Sound’s soon to be new headquarters (opening late summer 2022)-4422 W. Leon Tr. 2:30pm-4:30pm

Bridget Robinson-Whitaker, Interim Executive Director of Safe & Sound, said “The success of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (or DEA’s) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day events are not possible without working together with our local law enforcement partners and healthcare providers. The large amounts of unwanted prescription drugs collected at Take Back events reflect our shared commitment to the safety and health of our neighborhoods.”
