Safe & Sound Breaks Ground on Peace Corner, a New Community Space for Connection, Prevention, and Neighborhood Support
Milwaukee, WI, April 24, 2026, 11am – Safe & Sound will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, April 24, 2026, for Peace Corner, a new outdoor community space at 4422 W. Leon Terrace that will serve as a resource for residents, youth, families, and partners working together to build safer, stronger neighborhoods.
Funded mainly by a $100,000 grant from Impact100-Greater Milwaukee, Peace Corner is being developed as a lasting community asset where residents, youth, and partners can gather, connect, and build a safer, stronger neighborhood together.
Planned as more than a physical improvement, Peace Corner will be a visible, welcoming space for youth engagement, resident-led activities, neighborhood events, prevention programming, and stronger connection to community resources and support. The project reflects Safe & Sound’s mission to unite residents, youth, law enforcement, and community resources to build safe and empowered neighborhoods.
“Peace Corner reflects the kind of investment neighborhoods deserve,” said Bridget Whitaker, Executive Director of Safe & Sound. “This space will create opportunities for connection, celebration, prevention, and support, while giving residents and youth a place to gather and build community together.”
The groundbreaking marks the next step of a project Safe & Sound believes will become a lasting neighborhood asset and a hub for positive community use. The organization is grateful to Impact100 Greater Milwaukee and to the supporters and partners helping bring this vision to life.
As Peace Corner takes shape, Safe & Sound looks forward to engaging additional community partners, sponsors, and volunteers who want to help bring this space to life and support its long-term impact in the neighborhood.
