Republican Laws Mark End of Clean, Open and Transparent Government
“Once again, Governor Walker and legislative Republicans could not be trusted to do the right thing for our state.”
MADISON – Today Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) issued the following statement on Governor Walker signing the bills into law to eliminate the Government Accountability Board (AB 388) and radically change Wisconsin’s campaign finance system (AB 387):
“Once again, Governor Walker and legislative Republicans could not be trusted to do the right thing for our state. Under Republican rule, Wisconsin is open for corruption and our era of clean, open and transparent government is over.
“There is a clear difference between Democrats and Republicans. As legislative Republicans neglect our faltering economy in order to wage an all-out assault on Wisconsin’s proud heritage of clean, open and transparent government, legislative Democrats will continue to advocate for the people’s agenda by focusing on creating jobs, supporting our public schools, rebuilding our crumbling roads and strengthening our middle class.”
