Rep. Tenorio: “Let’s Get This Done for Wisconsin Families”

MADISON — Wisconsin State Representative Angelito Tenorio (D-14) released the following statement in response to Legislative Republicans’ announcement that they will bring postpartum Medicaid expansion (AB97) and breast cancer screening expansion, also known as Gail’s Law (AB263), to the floor in tomorrow’s floor session:

“For years, Wisconsin has been one of the only states that has not extended postpartum Medicaid coverage from 60 days to 12 months. By introducing amendments and applying pressure to Republican legislators, Assembly Democrats have effectively forced a vote.

“The fact that action is finally happening is a win for women and the people of Wisconsin. But, it is also a reminder that Republicans could have done this at any time. This delay carried real consequences: preventable gaps in maternal care and missed opportunities in protecting families.

“Provided that clean, unamended versions of these bills are brought to the floor, I look forward to voting in full support. This is for mothers who deserve continuous health coverage, for families who need stability in the critical months after childbirth, and for communities that benefit when women are healthy and supported. Let’s get this done for Wisconsin families.”
