Rep. Drake: 5 bills signed into law to make a better Wisconsin
MADISON – Today, State Representative Dora Drake (D-11th Assembly District) attended the signing of 5 different bills she co-authored to improve the lives of working families throughout Wisconsin. The new laws were the result of a strong bipartisan effort within the legislature, making these bills a triumph for Wisconsinites now, and in the future. The bills are as follows:
- Assembly Bill 109 – Requiring one-half credit of personal financial literacy for high school graduation.
- Assembly Bill 133 – Farmland preservation agreements and tax credits.
- Assembly Bill 394 – Requires the Department of Transportation to establish a driver education grant program.
- Senate Bill 280 – Authorizes a federally recognized American Indian tribe or band in this state to erect and maintain within the right-of-way of any highway within the boundaries of an Indian reservation.
- Senate Bill 268 – The bill creates requirements relating to retail licenses to sell cigarettes or tobacco products.
“These legislative proposals will aid in giving the people of Wisconsin the tools to gain autonomy and self-sufficiency by encouraging financial education, and removing barriers for local governments to build safe and thriving communities,” said Representative Drake.
