Madison, Wis. – State Representative Deb Andraca (D-Whitefish Bay) released the following statement regarding the retirement of Senator Alberta Darling:

“Senator Darling has been a role model for women in public office for decades, and I wish her all the best in her retirement. While I am very grateful to everyone who has encouraged me to consider running for the 8th State Senate District, I will not be a candidate this spring.

“After a long battle to flip my Assembly seat in 2020, followed by a successful fight to prevent a supermajority in the Assembly in 2022, I want to spend some non-campaign time with my family – especially my younger daughter who will be leaving for college this fall.

“I love my work in the Assembly, and it is an honor to be able to serve the people of the 23rd District for a second term. I will continue to advocate for my constituents’ top priorities including better gun laws, stable funding for public schools, free and fair elections, and ending gerrymandering in our state.”
