Rep. Angelina Cruz’s Statement on Assembly Votes Today
Madison – State Representative Angelina Cruz (D-62) issued the following statement regarding her “No” votes today on the eight bills before the Wisconsin State Assembly, and pledged to continue the work she was elected to do: bringing the real concerns of her district to the Capitol.
“So many Wisconsinites are struggling with the high cost of basic necessities and grappling with legitimate fear regarding cuts and instability from the federal level. It is tragic we had no legislation to vote on addressing my constituents’ concerns.
I voted no on bills that would make it harder to collect unemployment insurance, which already requires a good deal of jumping through hoops for small payments. I voted no on further burdening state agencies with more work while providing no clear benefit.
It is ironic the Republican majority brought forward legislation increasing government regulation, creating more bureaucracy, and chose to bring back bills the Governor vetoed last session, with no changes.
I pledge to continue supporting Wisconsinites, especially as uncertainty at the national level threatens our institutions, communities, and individual well-being.”
