On Thursday, June 4, 2020, at about 4:48 p.m., Milwaukee Police observed a vehicle driving westbound on West Center Street at a high rate of speed while multiple individuals were hanging out of the windows.

Milwaukee Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle near the 600 block of West Center Street; however, the vehicle refused to pull over and subsequently struck a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on the 600 block of West Locust Street. One of the passengers of the striking vehicle was a 22 year old Milwaukee man. He was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

An additional passenger of the striking vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the striking vehicle was arrested and criminal charges will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days.

The driver of unit two was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The Milwaukee Police Department reminds our community on the dangers of using excessive speed as well as the danger of passengers hanging out of the windows of moving vehicles. Please follow the rules of the roads at all times.
