REALTORS® Support New Arena

Milwaukee needs professional sports franchises to maintain, and grow, our position as a world-class city.

Thursday, March 26, 2015 – The Greater Milwaukee Association of REALTORS® supports construction of a new multi-use facility for the Milwaukee Bucks and other entertainment events in downtown Milwaukee.

The GMAR is also proud to join Play it Forward Wisconsin in a collaborative effort to see the new arena project through to completion.

Milwaukee needs professional sports franchises to maintain, and grow, our position as a world-class city.  The Milwaukee Bucks have fit that bill for over 40 years.  However, the BMO Harris Bradley Center has not been able to keep pace as professional sports’ economics have changed in recent decades.

We have witnessed major construction projects in our state for the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers in answer to the changing economic tide in their respective leagues, and the University of Wisconsin – Madison confirmed its commitment to its athletic program with significant upgrades to Camp Randall Stadium and construction of the Kohl Center.

We are very excited that Governor Walker and leaders in the legislature agree that we, collectively, must work to secure the Milwaukee Bucks’ future in Milwaukee, and have committed the state to take part in a public-private partnership along with local government officials and the new Bucks’ ownership group to fund construction of a new facility.

The GMAR is happy to support the Bucks in this effort.
