Pocan Criticizes WI State Assembly on Lack of Mask Requirement
MADISON, WI—Congressman Mark Pocan (WI-02) released the following statement in response to the news that the GOP-controlled Wisconsin State Assembly is not requiring the wearing of masks on its floor:
“Yesterday, Luke Letlow, a 41-year old GOP member-elect of Congress from Louisiana, died from complications of COVID-19. I send my deepest condolences to his family.
“Assembly leadership needs to require mask wearing on the floor of the Assembly. There is no excuse for not requiring masks—as most employers do—in every effort to keep people safe during a pandemic. If you can require proper attire or even the wearing of a tie on the floor, you can certainly require the wearing of a mask to keep all members, their families and staff safe.
“It’s time we all walk the walk—not just talk the talk, when it comes to public safety and COVID-19. I hope the Assembly leadership will change course on this devastatingly bad decision.”
