Passion Meets Fashion at the 37th Annual WMACC Couture for a Cure Fashion Show

Since its inception in 1982, Women for MACC (WMACC) has hosted this signature fashion show luncheon to raise funds for childhood cancer and related blood disorder research.

Milwaukee, Wis. – Women for MACC (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer) invites you to experience an exclusive afternoon of high-end fashion at the 37th Annual Couture for a Cure Fashion Show and Luncheon on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee.

Since its inception in 1982, Women for MACC (WMACC) – a non-profit charitable organization run solely by passionate volunteers – has hosted this signature fashion show luncheon to raise funds for childhood cancer and related blood disorder research.

Through partnership with premier boutique, Gigi, this year’s runway show will feature signature fashions from internationally-renowned designer Peter Langner, a name synonymous with excellence, imagination and refinement. This elite event will also showcase curated designer fashions from Repurpose, a unique, New York-based shop known for marrying sustainable fashion with fundraising. A dazzling silent auction, exquisite wine pull and other delights also await attendees of this exclusive event.

A look behind the passion to fund a cure, by the numbers:

  • Every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer.
  • Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease among children under 15 years old.
  • The average age of a child diagnosed with cancer is six years old.
  • There are more than 12 major types of pediatric cancer and more than 100 subtypes.
  • Childhood cancers are harder to diagnose early – its spread to other areas of the body in 80% of children prior to diagnosis.
  • Since 1980, fewer than 11 drugs have been developed specifically for use in children with cancer.

“Childhood cancer research is drastically underfunded,” states Women for MACC President, Alicia Buttchen. “Each and every dollar raised through this elite event makes a big impact. One hundred percent of proceeds support critical research for treatment protocols that are developed here in Wisconsin and become the standard of patient care coast-to-coast.”

Women for MACC is a group of women dedicated to bringing hope through fundraising events that raise critical research dollars and awareness to end childhood cancer and related blood disorders. Couture for a Cure tickets, table sponsorships and silent auction/wine pull donation opportunities are open to the public; any and all support of this flagship event benefits this important cause.
