Nominations Open for 2026 Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin Contest
WMC Welcomes BMO as Presenting Partner for Competition's 11th Year
MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the combined state chamber and manufacturers’ association – is again hosting a statewide competition to find the “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.” The 2026 contest marks the 11th year of the popular public voting competition and the first year of a new partnership with BMO, which joins as the contest’s presenting partner.
Since its launch in 2016, the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest has showcased the ingenuity, craftsmanship, and economic impact of Wisconsin manufacturers, while engaging thousands of voters from across the state. The annual competition highlights the wide range of products made in Wisconsin, from iconic consumer goods and agricultural innovation to advanced technologies and industrial equipment.
“For more than a decade, this contest has helped spotlight the innovation and talent that make Wisconsin a manufacturing powerhouse,” WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer said. “This year is particularly special as we welcome BMO as our presenting partner to kick off this outstanding competition.”
Wisconsin leads the country in manufacturing jobs per capita. Last year alone, the manufacturing industry contributed over $73.8 billion to the state’s GDP, generating an estimated $46.4 billion in earnings for manufacturing workers.
WMC was the first organization to launch a “Coolest” contest to highlight the manufacturing sector. Now, 26 state chambers and manufacturing organizations host similar programs for their state’s manufacturers.

Manufacturers and members of the public can submit nominations beginning today at www.madeinwis.com. Any product that is manufactured in Wisconsin qualifies for the contest, regardless of company size.
Following the nomination period, a popular vote will determine the Top 16 products that will be placed in a bracket-style tournament called Manufacturing Madness. Products will compete against one another in head-to-head match-ups, advancing through the bracket. Manufacturers, consumers, employees and other Wisconsinites are encouraged to vote daily through the rounds of voting.
Ultimately, the 2026 Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin will be crowned at WMC’s Business Day event in Madison on Oct. 27.
